# User Capabilities

By default, email accounts can only be managed by users with the ***manage_options*** capability. With the User Accounts addon, two new capabilities are introduced that enable users with the said capabilities to be able to view and manage email accounts.

The capabilities are:

1. ***read_email_accounts***: Enables a specific user or user role to view email accounts.
2. ***manage_email_accounts***: Enables a specific user or user role to manage email accounts.

To assign this capabilities to a user or user role, you can use a plugin such as [User Role Editor](https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/).

If you assign a user or user role the *manage_email_accounts* capability, please enable the 'Email Account Management' option in the [addon's settings](https://wpemailmanager.com/documentation/user-accounts/user-accounts-settings/) page.
